The mayor of Strezhevoy in the Tomsk region, Valery Denichenko, reported on the Telegram channel that the number of city residents who signed a contract to participate in the war with Ukraine has sharply increased, noted «TV2».
According to Denisenko, the decision of the residents of Strezhevoy was influenced by a twofold increase in regional payments at the end of August. Currently, in the Tomsk region, it amounts to 2 million rubles. On the propaganda posters, future contractors are promised up to 4.95 million rubles for going to war. In September, the number of Strezhevoy residents who signed the contract became more than in April, May, June, and July combined.
Previously, the head of the city lamented that city residents were going to sign contracts in the neighboring region — Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, where the payments are higher.
Denisenko reported that «new fighters are needed to replace those who are out of action, wounded, and killed», while earlier he admitted that as a mayor, he has to «recruit contractors on Fridays and bury them on Mondays».
According to calculations by «Mediazona»*, 1038 natives of the Tomsk region have died in Ukraine. And this is only based on information from open sources.
