The CEO of one of the pharmaceutical companies and a customs broker planned to import "dangerous chemicals" into the Belgorod region from China via transit through Kazakhstan, reported the publication "Pepel" with reference to the regional FSB department.
The company did not have an export permit, and the raw materials themselves were not declared at customs. Security forces seized 2.3 tons of substances, the exact nature of which was not specified by the agency, but they reported that they could be used in the creation of weapons of mass destruction.
A criminal case was initiated against the CEO and the broker under the article on the smuggling of raw materials that could be used in the creation of weapons of mass destruction, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.
