The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced 36-year-old native of Kostroma, Evgeny Shulga*, to eight years in a general regime colony on charges of justifying terrorism and inciting extremist activities, TASS reported citing the FSB press service.
The investigation charged Shulga with justifying the explosion that resulted in the death of the head of the radiation, chemical, and biological defense troops (RHBZ), Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, in December 2024, as well as «other terrorist actions and UAV attacks on Russian territory, resulting in civilian casualties».
The investigation also «established his involvement in posting materials in the Telegram messenger that justify terrorist acts committed by Ukrainian special services and call for armed attacks on servicemen of the Ministry of Defense and the Federal Penitentiary Service».
Shulga was detained in Kostroma by officers of the regional FSB department, who also investigated this criminal case.
In March 2025, the name of the Kostroma resident appeared in the Rosfinmonitoring registry of «terrorists and extremists».
