Sergey Lavrov stated that an immediate ceasefire does not solve the "root causes" of the conflict and leaves part of Ukraine under the leadership of a "Nazi regime"

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, at a press conference with journalists stated that Moscow is not ready for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, as it does not eliminate the "root causes of this conflict": ensuring Ukraine's non-aligned and non-nuclear status and stopping the "actual genocide of the Russian and Russian-speaking population." Moreover, a truce, in his opinion, would allow "rearming" Ukraine.

At the same time, Lavrov noted that Russia "remains fully committed" to the formula of achieving long-term peace, rather than an immediate ceasefire, "which will lead to nothing." "A ceasefire now would mean only one thing: a large part of Ukraine remains under the leadership of the Nazi regime," said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Lavrov did not stop in his assessments and accused Poland of being ready to commit terrorist acts in response to the statements of the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski about the possible detention of a plane with Putin if it heads to Budapest through Polish airspace. Sikorski noted that Warsaw cannot guarantee that "an independent court will not oblige the government to stop such a plane to deliver the suspect to The Hague."

Earlier, Reuters reported that at a meeting with Zelensky last week, Trump advocated for reaching an "agreement where we are, on the line of demarcation." The day before, CNN reported that the meeting between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Sergey Lavrov, which is supposed to occur before the meeting between Trump and Putin, is postponed, as the parties had "different expectations."
