In the Stavropol region, security forces detained a 25-year-old 'supporter of radical views' who was preparing a terrorist attack in the administration of the Georgievsky municipal district, reports TASS citing the FSB Public Relations Center.
According to the intelligence service, the man, 'adhering to radical views,' voluntarily established contact through the Telegram messenger and joined the ranks of a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation 'to commit crimes on its behalf.'
On the curator's assignment, he gathered information about the administration of the Georgievsky municipal district and acquired components for making an improvised explosive device. He did not manage to carry out his plan, as he was detained, the FSB reported.
During a search at the detainee's residence, precursors for assembling an improvised explosive device were found.
A criminal case has been initiated for preparing a terrorist attack. The court sent the detainee to a pre-trial detention center.
