President of France Emmanuel Macron reappointed Sébastien Lecornu as Prime Minister, who had just resigned on Monday

He first held the position for less than a month, and the government he formed faced sharp criticism

According to BFMTV, the President of France gave Lecornu full freedom in forming a new government and negotiating with political parties.

Lecornu himself stated that he accepted the offer for the sake of the country. «Out of a sense of duty, I accept the mission entrusted to me by the President of the Republic: to do everything possible for France to have a budget by the end of the year», — he wrote on social network X. He emphasized that the country must «put an end to the political crisis that irritates the French and the instability that damages France's image and its interests».

However, the reappointment of the resigned Prime Minister was condemned by all opposition parties, and the left-populist party «Unsubmissive France» announced that it would initiate impeachment proceedings against Macron.

Lecornu was appointed Prime Minister of France at the beginning of September this year and resigned in less than a month.

After early elections in June 2024, several Prime Ministers changed in France: Michel Barnier's cabinet lasted less than three months, and in December, power transitioned to François Bayrou. In September 2025, his government did not receive the confidence of the National Assembly.
