Early in the morning, Russian troops attacked Kyiv with drones and then ballistic missiles, one of which hit a multi-story residential building.
According to preliminary data, eight people, including a child, died and 38 were injured, local authorities reported.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klymenko, wrote that rescuers continue to clear the debris of the 5-story building on Boryspilska Street in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, where at least three people may still remain under the rubble.
In Kyiv, after the attack, more than 500 rescuers and over 100 units of equipment are working at 20 locations.
«These Russian missiles and attack drones today are a clear response to everyone in the world who for weeks and months called for a ceasefire and real diplomacy. Russia chooses ballistics, not the negotiating table. It chooses to continue killing, not to end the war. And this means that Russia is still not afraid of the consequences. Russia still takes advantage of the fact that at least part of the world turns a blind eye to the killed children and seeks excuses for Putin», — wrote Volodymyr Zelensky.
He also added that Ukraine expects a reaction from China, a reaction from Hungary. «The death of children should evoke greater emotions than anything else. We expect a reaction from everyone in the world who called for peace but now remains silent more often than taking principled positions», — stated the President of Ukraine.
