The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the sixth stage of the prisoner exchange, the number of people who participated in the exchange, as in previous times, is not specified. TASS, citing sources in the negotiation group, notes that the exchange was equal: the parties exchanged an equal number of prisoners.
Russian servicemen are on the territory of Belarus, where they receive psychological and medical assistance. All soldiers will be transported to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions of the Ministry of Defense, the department added.
Later, the exchange was confirmed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, noting that defenders of Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions, who served in the Armed Forces, National Guard, Border Service, returned home.
The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said that the oldest released person is 60 years old.
As reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the returned defenders will be taken to medical centers for necessary examinations and further treatment and rehabilitation.
«All defenders released today have injuries or severe medical diagnoses: epilepsy, hypertension, coronary heart disease, vision problems, musculoskeletal disorders, hernias, chronic digestive diseases. Many of the released have been diagnosed with weight loss», — the message states.
At the same time, the headquarters noted that the exact number of released prisoners will be announced after all stages of the exchange are completed.
