She was accused of 'inciting' peers to watch films about school shootings

The Abakan City Court sent a schoolgirl from Chernogorsk to a detention center in a case of 'participation in a terrorist organization'. The press service of the court was noted by 'Mediazona'**.

According to law enforcement, the 17-year-old schoolgirl from January to April 2025 'incited' other teenagers to watch films about school shootings. At the same time, she allegedly 'positively assessed' mass killings, which the investigation qualified as 'participation in a terrorist organization'.

The girl and her legal representative asked for a preventive measure not related to detention, but the court took into account the investigation's arguments about the 'possibility of escape' of the schoolgirl and sent her to a detention center.

In February 2022, the Supreme Court recognized the non-existent movement 'Columbine' as a 'terrorist' organization and banned it in Russia. Now, any participation in the movement is punishable by up to life imprisonment.

The term 'Columbine' entered common use after the shooting at the namesake American school in 1999. At that time, two students killed 13 people, and another 23 were injured.

In Russia, teenagers began to be detained on suspicion of attacking schools after the shooting at the Kerch college in 2018.
