The FSB arrested a 50-year-old resident of the Kherson region in a case of "attempted terrorist attack" and illegal acquisition of explosives, the Public Relations Center of the special service reported.
According to the security forces, the man was "recruited by Ukrainian special services" to carry out a terrorist attack "against representatives of regional authorities." He was supposed to blow up the car of one of the officials of the local administration appointed by Moscow. However, the FSB does not specify the name of the potential victim.
The agency claims that the man planned to use explosives C-4 weighing 1250 grams when attempting to retrieve it from a "cache," where he was detained.
In the interrogation recording, the detainee stated that he "was recruited in August 2024 by SBU officers." According to him, the target of the terrorist attack was "an employee of the Hornostaivka municipal district administration."
The FSB reported that they received a confession from the detainee. The sanctions of the specified articles provide for punishment up to life imprisonment.
