The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia declared Chechen Seda Suleymanova wanted, who was forcibly taken to Grozny from St. Petersburg after escaping, after which nothing was heard about her. «Mediazona»* found information in the ministry's wanted database.
The wanted card states that Suleymanova is being searched for as «missing». The contact phone number listed is the duty unit of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Naursky district.
At the beginning of 2023, Suleymanova fled from her relatives to St. Petersburg. In the city, she lived with her partner Stanislav Kudryavtsev and found a job. The girl's relatives threatened that they would «involve law enforcement agencies» to bring her back home.
In August, the Chechen woman was detained by St. Petersburg police officers — the formal reason for this was that Suleymanova was accused of theft. After that, she was handed over to Chechen security forces.
In February 2024, the crisis group SK SOS reported that it received information about the possible murder of Seda Suleymanova. A statement about the disappearance of the Chechen woman was submitted to the SK.
In April 2024, it became known that a criminal case was initiated regarding the disappearance of Suleymanova. A few months after the abduction, the Investigative Committee acknowledged that security forces forcibly took Seda Suleymanova from St. Petersburg to Chechnya.
There is still no information about the girl's whereabouts, nor are there any reports about what happened to her after the forced return to Chechnya.
