An Air India airline plane, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed a few minutes after takeoff.
The disaster occurred during takeoff—the plane fell in a residential area near the airport. There is no official information yet about casualties or injuries.
According to The Times of India, there were 230 passengers, two pilots, and 10 crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
It is reported that the pilots of the crashed plane sent a signal shortly after takeoff. This is the first aviation accident involving the Boeing 787 Dreamliner—one of the newest Boeing models. The crash could become one of the new severe blows for Boeing amid a series of aircraft safety issues the airline has faced in recent years.
The publication Reuters wrote that hundreds of improperly installed fasteners were found on the fuselages of the Dreamliner. It was then discovered that the problem was due to improper tightening of more than 900 fasteners at the Boeing factory. The issue was confirmed by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
