The Tyumen Regional Court sentenced two students from the College of Social and Production Technologies, who were accused of setting fire to an electric locomotive: Daniil Korkin was sentenced to 9 years in a general regime colony, and Maxim Yurchuk to 8 years, the Ural Transport Prosecutor's Office reported. They were found guilty of "preparation for sabotage" and "sabotage".

According to the investigation, in November 2023, the young people entered into correspondence in the messenger Telegram with an "unidentified person," on whose order, "for a reward, a group of persons by prior conspiracy committed arson of relay cabinets on a section of the Sverdlovsk railway in the city of Tyumen, preparation for arson of a locomotive, and arson of an electric locomotive."

The damage was estimated at more than 2.3 million rubles.

As the investigation indicated, they received the reward for the arsons in the form of cryptocurrency, which they converted into rubles. After this, a charge of "legalization" of the received funds appeared in the accusation.

At the time of the arsons, both defendants were minors.
