According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 55,181 serious and especially serious crimes were registered in Russia in January 2025, noted the channel «Trauma Center». Last year in January, 49,652 crimes were recorded, in pre-war January 2022 — 10,000 fewer crimes (44,538).
Serious crimes are intentional crimes punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment, and especially serious crimes carry a punishment exceeding 10 years. It is worth noting that this includes «terrorist» and «extremist» articles, which can now be charged for attempting to set fire to a cell tower. The number of crimes committed by military personnel returning from Ukraine has also increased. According to «7×7»* from open sources, participants of the «SVO» killed more than 250 people, and several hundred more were injured.
In 2024, the statistics of crimes committed over the year already showed the highest figures in the past 14 years, with 617,301 serious crimes committed.
On the eve, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, reported that more than 30,000 people left the police last year, including every second district officer with more than 10 years of experience.
