On the night of March 5, in Dagestan, four people were killed by security forces during a counter-terrorism operation, reported the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.
"Four bandits planning a terrorist act at the regional office of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Kaspiysk were neutralized. There were no civilian casualties or losses among law enforcement personnel," the statement said.
According to the NAC, their activities were coordinated by members of the "Islamic State." When attempting to detain them, they began shooting automatic weapons at traffic police officers. After this, security forces blocked the group on the outskirts of the village of Semender.
At the scene of the shootout and in a nearby hideout, law enforcement later found grenade launchers, improvised explosive devices, grenades, automatic rifles, a pistol, and ammunition, the agency reported.
The CTO regime was introduced in Semender itself, as well as in the Kirovsky district of Makhachkala. It was lifted in the morning.
