21-year-old young man from Ulan-Ude received seven years in prison on charges of 'financing terrorism' and 'treason'

The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced 21-year-old Alexey Badmaev from Ulan-Ude to seven years of imprisonment for comments on social media and donations to 'terrorist organizations'. He will spend the first 2.5 years in prison, the remaining time — in a high-security colony, the court's press service reported. He is also prohibited from administering websites on the internet for two years.

According to the investigation, the young man, being an 'opponent of the SVO' and a 'supporter of the Legion 'Freedom of Russia'*, posted comments on 'VKontakte' promoting the activities of the legion. In addition, Badmaev is also accused of transferring 500 rubles to the 'Russian Volunteer Corps' (RDC), as the prosecution claims he was also a 'supporter' of this 'terrorist organization'. The investigation classified his actions as 'financing terrorism' and 'treason'.
