Security forces detained three former deputies of the ex-head of «RUSNANO» Anatoly Chubais, TASS reported citing law enforcement agencies. «The deputies of the ex-head of «RUSNANO» Anatoly Chubais have been detained as part of a case of abuse of power», — said the agency's interlocutor. According to him, investigative actions and searches are currently underway. «The status of the detainees will be determined during the investigative actions», — he added, without specifying what the case is related to.
The Telegram channel «VChK-OGPU»* claims that it concerns the executive director of «RUSNANO» Boris Podolsky and the deputy executive director Artur Galstyan. The name of another detainee is unknown. Meanwhile, as the channel writes, the main figure in the case is Anatoly Chubais himself.
Yesterday and today, searches are being conducted in Moscow at dozens of addresses of former top managers of «RUSNANO» and businessmen associated with the state corporation, also reports «VChK-OGPU». The criminal case was initiated yesterday by the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation under the article on «abuse of power», with damages exceeding 45 billion rubles. According to the channel, the FSB counterintelligence department in industrial enterprises is involved in the case.
On January 11, the director for special assignments of «RUSNANO» Yevgeny Frolov stated that the estimated damage from unscrupulous financial operations in «RUSNANO» exceeded 200 billion rubles, and criminal cases were initiated for more than 43 billion rubles.
In 2022, the head of «RUSNANO» Sergey Kulikov appealed to the Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov with a request to check the work of the state corporation in 2010–2020, when it was headed by Chubais. According to his assessment, in those years, the volume of external borrowings of «RUSNANO» exceeded 290 billion rubles, and by the end of 2020, the company's debt amounted to more than 146 billion rubles.
After the invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Anatoly Chubais left for Israel and opened the Center for Russian Studies at Tel Aviv University.
