The Chelyabinsk Regional Court sentenced a 17-year-old teenager, accused of committing sabotage, to eight years in a juvenile correctional facility, learned «Mediazona»* from the court's press service.
According to the FSB, the teenager was carrying out an assignment from an unnamed client who promised him a reward of 4.5 million rubles. He was transferred 25 thousand rubles for a train ticket to Chelyabinsk, where at the beginning of January last year, he bought five liters of AI-92 gasoline and climbed onto the airbase to set fire to a Su-34 fighter jet. On the morning of January 4, a video of the burning plane was published by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The plane was extinguished, and the final damage was estimated at 62 million rubles. According to the local portal 74.ru, representatives of the airbase are planning to file a civil lawsuit against the teenager for the reimbursement of the amount. Because of this, «until a decision is made on the amount of the civil lawsuit reimbursement», the judge upheld the arrest «on the defendant's funds held in bank accounts, and on the property of his legal representative — VAZ cars and a land plot in Dagestan».
The young man was detained a day later, on January 5. According to the case materials, he was removed from the train in the Chelyabinsk region, near Yuryuzan.
Initially, the teenager was accused of «attempted sabotage», but subsequently, the case qualification was toughened to simply «sabotage».
The accused «partially admitted guilt», but «did not explain his position in detail during the session, nor did his lawyer», reported the correspondent of 74.ru from the courtroom.
